Happy New Year!

I hope that you have all enjoyed a very happy Christmas with family and friends and you are now looking forward to 2009 with vigour and enthusiasm, despite the economic downturn. This is a particularly important time to appreciate and support the businesses, restaurants and shops in our locality, helping them to survive the credit crunch.

Further afield, I have recently been made aware of a charity - ’Just Care’; which is driven by local GP - DR. P.G Hutchinson from Kingswood. The charity are desperately trying to fill a 20ft container with health and hygiene products, to be sent in January to a small village called Kamutuuza in Uganda to aid severely deprived and ill children.

This has certainly touched my heart and I urge you all to purchase just one item from the list, after all, if just half of my readers respond, that is over 2,000 urgently needed items that will benefit these very needy children at only a minimal cost to yourselves.
