Throughout September the community group, ‘Frack Free Frodsham and Helsby’, will be conducting a survey of residents’ attitudes to ‘fracking’ in Helsby and Frodsham.
Last year seismic testing was undertaken in Helsby and parts of Frodsham by TESLA, acting on behalf of IGas Energy, in order to help determine the viability of unconventional gas extraction, including Shale Gas ‘fracking’. Seismic testing in the rest of Frodsham is likely to take place soon on behalf of INEOS.
The community survey will enable a better understanding of the views of local residents, which can be brought to the attention of relevant authorities.
Questionnaires will be distributed to a representative number of households selected at random from across the entire parish area. The sample has been taken in conjunction with best practice guidelines and will be checked against data held by the Office of National Statistics, after completion, to ensure that it represents the demographic profile of the parishes as a whole.
Recipients of the survey are urged to complete the questionnaire. All individual responses will be kept confidential, and all views will be reported as a statistical summary. The survey is supported by Frodsham Town Council.
