A leisurely Sunday... Very reasonably priced also - choose three courses for £10.95 or two for £8.95, with children under 10 years half price, making it ideal for the whole family. (Separate children’s and ‘All day’ menu also available). Children are very welcome at Amoré and our two boys, Charlie aged 9 years and Will, aged 7 were thrilled when they were also invited along to offer their opinion! We arrived at 5pm and as it was such a lovely sunny day the tables outside were occupied with people relaxing and enjoying an apperitif before dinner, coffee or a swift pint after an afternoon stroll. It always reminds me of the pavement cafés in Paris, where you can sit and watch the world pass by. As we perused the menu, Julie brought over a basket of freshly baked, warm French bread which we munched whilst making our choices. A jug of water was also provided and appreciated. To start with Will chose the Soup of the day, which was leek & potato and arrived in a bowl almost the same size as him, which of course he thought was great! Unbelievably he managed the lot, so it must have been good. I chose the bruschetta which was wonderful, as I’m sure many of you know by now that I am a great lover of goats cheese and this combination with walnuts was very good. Chris and Charlie chose the mozzarella wrapped in Parma ham which arrived beautifully presented and although Charlie wasn’t too fussed on the ham he scoffed the mozzarella and of course ‘dad’ managed to help out, so clean plates all round were returned to the kitchen! So on to the main course... The roast dinners were all substantial sized portions of meat served on a rich buttery mash and accompanied with lovely home made roast potatoes and a selection of vegetables which were perfectly cooked. I tried the vegetarian option, a pan cooked risotto, which proved to be a good choice also, very tasty and enjoyable. We had a few minutes rest and then on to the desserts. Both boys opted for ice cream; no surprise there then! Although the strawberry ice cream had pieces of strawberries in it, both boys voted the chocolate flavour as the best with chunks of chocolate throughout. I chose the blackcurrant torte which was divine - very light with a delicious blackcurrant topping and once again beautifully presented. Chris opted for the individual vanilla cheesecake which also proved to be a hit. Too full for coffee, we returned home after a lovely meal, glad to leave the clearing away and washing up behind! Sunday to me is a great day to enjoy a meal out, after the weekend activities of football and rugby matches and catching up in the garden it provides a relaxing close to a busy weekend. I did manage a few comments from the boys such as... I really liked the pattern pictures, the soup and I really like trying new things! But then on went the television and I was left to write the review! Amoré, where children are most welcome. Enjoy fine dining at a very affordable price. So why not book a table or just call in and enjoy a welcome, relaxing end to your weekend? Amoré Sunday menuStarters... Mains...
