Celebrating 10 years in Business at Lady Heyes
Clothing Alterations ● Bridal ● Curtains & Blinds
Dawn Farrell has 29 years sewing experience & celebrates 10 years in business at Lady Heyes on the 5th July - congratulations Dawn!
Elizabeth Arnold got it’s name in memory of Dawn’s parents, who I’m sure would be immensely proud of their daughters success.
Dawn wants to say a massive thank you for all the help and support that she’s received from loyal customers, family and friends, especially from her two sons Connor and Kieran who have been her rock. Dawn remembers fondly a shopping trip in Frodsham when many customers greeted her in passing and a very young Kieran said “You’re quite famous aren’t you mum!”
Dawn loves working within the community of Lady Heyes along side other small businesses and is pleased to have the opportunity to work in such a great location. It’s a lovely environment to work in and Dawn was excited to be involved with the finishing touches of the new Glamping Pods recently built at Lady Heyes by making all the soft furnishings for each pod. She enjoyed everything from choosing the luxurious fabrics to designing the individual style of each pod and is very proud of the finished overall look.
Dawn loves her work and rises to the challenge when presented with difficult or unusual jobs. Soft furnishings, bridal dresses, bridesmaids, special occasion wear or a simple clothing alteration Dawn takes the utmost care and is always very happy to help. Another popular
service is making a keepsake from an item of
clothing, a child’s first school jumper can be
downsized into a top for a teddy bear for example or a wedding dress can be made into a Christening gown.
Dawn started sewing in 1985 and has sewn something almost every day since, she loves it!
This passion has lead her to offering sewing lessons so that she can pass on her enthusiasm and skill to other people and they are proving to be very popular.
Lessons can be one to one or small groups of up to six people, either at Lady Heyes or in your own home, complimented with vintage tea and homemade cake. Either as a one off lesson or a course, there are various options available. Groups of friends can enjoy a lovely evening making a Cath Kidston style bag, apron, cushion or door stop or perhaps personalised bunting for a bride to be or the arrival of a baby. Give Dawn a call if you’d like to find out more.
Here’s what a few of Dawn’s customers say about Elizabeth Arnold Dressmakers...
“I first found Elizabeth Arnold Dress Makers and Dawn’s wonderful expertise, when I was looking for someone to re-cover my conservatory suite cushions. I had sourced a hardy but somewhat challenging material to work with, luckily Dawn was not phased; the result was a perfectly covered suite just as if I had bought it straight from the shop, I was delighted. I have since gone on to utilise Dawns talents for clothing repairs, modifications and more recently to make bridesmaid dresses for my wedding. Dawn is ever the professional and a real perfectionist, I would recommend her to anyone for all kinds of dress, clothing, and upholstery matters”.

“We were thrilled with the lovely outfits that Dawn made for our grandchildren to wear at our wedding last December.
I was so pleased with everything she did, from her initial ideas and designs, to her recommendations over fabrics and the patience she showed when measuring and fitting the little people! The outfits looked fabulous and were much admired. I can highly recommend Dawn. Her professional approach and attention to the smallest detail is what makes her stand out. Congratulations on your success in business, Dawn!”

I can not recommend Dawn’s sewing classes enough, I arrived unable to set up or use a sewing machine, 5 weeks later I left having made a cushion (with piping and zip), tissue box, doorstop, bag and beautiful bunting. Dawn is a fantastic teacher, patient, flexible and always encouraging, I grew in confidence through Dawn’s guidance and was able to use my skills at home on my own machine, I am looking forward to attending more of Dawn’s informal, relaxed and fun classes in the future.
