If you haven’t visited the new Helsby Community Sports Club on Meres Edge yet, then what are you waiting for?! And if you think that you know what to expect from “The club”, then you may just be in for a surprise!
Finally opening for business on 17th May, the club has got off to a great start in its new home, proving to be a popular venue for locals to watch the European Championships. Old members are mixing with new members; friends, families and neighbours are realising what a fantastic venue it is to socialise in; and at it’s heart, the club’s old core value – to provide something for everyone, no matter how young or how old - is more plain to see than ever before.
The club’s resident sports clubs have continued where they left off on the greens, the pitches and the courts, but it’s in the clubhouse that the most obvious differences can be seen. The flexible bar layout gives anyone wanting to watch Live sport plenty of options to choose from and also means that a great range of fitness and exercise classes can be catered for at the same time. Helsby Stay & Play has proved to be an incredibly popular mums & toddlers group – running several times per week in the mornings and afternoons – whilst at the other end of the spectrum, Bronco Line Dancing recently started to strut their stuff in the afternoons and evenings.
Another great bonus of the new facility, is that the club has now started to serve food also – with options ranging from a simple light bite to something more substantial.
Whilst non-members are welcome, social membership of the club starts at only £20 and gives generous discounts at the bar and when hiring facilities.
